A Strong Case For Over-The-Knee Boots

About six years ago, I bought a pair of black, high-heeled over-the-knee boots in Nordstrom. Back then, I was still living in Miami. They were so comfortable, I even danced the night away a few times on them. My clubbing nights are way behind me, but my attachment to a good pair of O.T.K boots, not so much. This pair really speaks to me: the flat sole and the suede finishing takes off the edge, while keeping their distinctive feminine essence (hello, long legs!). Plus, I find them more suitable for day-time outfits.

O.T.K. boots add a fashionable twist on timeless looks like these. They work equally fine with pea coats, fitted blazers or even with army jackets. Finish the look with a big scarf, floppy hat or a statement bag. More is more. :)

Nothing conveys 'cozy' quite like an oversized knitted sweater. Pair it with an O.T.K boot to bring a subtle layer of sophistication. The skirts are cute, but I find they have to be styled with caution to avoid at all costs looking like a 38-year-old school girl. Long pants on the other hand work okay across the board.

I'm really digging this formula! Something about the volume and texture contrast makes of this outfit the perfect balance between the two previous looks. It's elegant, yet current. Stylish, yet forgiving. Comfy, yet put together.

Bottom line: I get the bad rap mostly linked to Pretty Woman associations. BUT, when it comes to refreshing your wardrobe, a pair of O.T.K boots hit the ground running. Highly wearable and versatile, they will elevate your outfits while make you feel like a classy bad*ss. They might come at a relative high price point, but the cost-per-wear will go down slowly but surely.
