B-Day Getaway: The Dutch Coast

Dear friends, I hope you had a wonderful weekend and an even better start of the week. As I had mentioned, Saturday morning we embarked on a road trip to celebrate my 36th BDay (it was actually yesterday!). This time, we headed West to the Dutch coast.

Netherlands met my expectations -it's really beautiful!-  however it was too cold to live the experience to its full potential.

During two nights we stationed in a tiny little village called WestKapelle, right by the beach. We arrived there on Saturday just in time for the sunset.

In the evening, we decided to have dinner at the hotel: It's always the most convenient option, especially after the three-hour drive. The moment I saw the cozy fire place and a huge portrait of Audrey, I was sold. The food was good too ;)

One of the beauties of this area is that it has lovely towns peppered around in a 10km-radio -ideal to visit them with the bikes, when it's warmer. On Sunday, we visited three of them: Domburg, Middelburg and Vlissingen.

Perhaps Middelburg, the capital of the Zeeland region, is the one that offers the widest array of attractions, such as the former City Hall, a late-gothic building from the XV Century,  the canals and the famous De Hoop Mill, from the XVIII century.

Later that day, we had dinner at the famous Oase in Domburg, right by the beach.

On Monday, we spent the day in Antwerp, Belgium. Will show pics of that day on the next post. Thanks for reading, like always!
