I'm finally back in Miami, after spending four fabulous days in Germany, visiting Meine Freund. I would like to share with you the highlights of the trip, as we had a pretty intense program of activities:
Thursday, April 5:
7:20 am: I landed in Dusseldorf airport. There, i had to take a train that took me to my final destination: Bonn
10:15 am: I visited Michael at his office, so he could give me the keys of his apartment. Yay! Nothing like hitting a nice bed and a shower after a 12-hour trip, right?
3:00 pm: I am ready to hit the road and explore central Bonn on my own, until it's time to pick up Michael at his job.
5:00 pm: My boyfriend was officially starting his Easter break. After running some errands, we headed to the brewery for a 'light' dinner. Check this out! Delicious!
Friday, April 6:
According to the weather forecast, this was going to be the warmest day of the weekend, therefore we decided to spend the day in Koblenz, a gorgeous medieval little town, located at one-hour-drive away from Bonn:
1:00pm We arrived at Koblenz. We walked to the famous corner where the Mossel and Rhine converge and took some fun pictures. The town has currently set up a cable car that take tourists to a medieval fortress located in the hill. The views are amazing from up there.
3:30 pm Back in town, we walked around Koblenz's lovely streets and had a late lunch at Le Palais (check out those 'beautiful' flammkuchen -yes, they are as yummy as they look like)
5:30 pm: On our way back to Bonn, Michael had a little surprise for me: He took me to this very romantic spot, Insel Grafenwerth, right by the Rhine, to watch the sunset. Breathtaking!
Saturday, April 7:
10:00 am: Delicious brunch at Nottebrock followed by a lovely promenade around Bad Honnef.
Noon: headed to the Drachenburg castle -and felt like a princess for a few hours!
4:00 pm And speaking of princesses, Bundeskunsthalle -one of the most famous museums in Germany- is now featuring an impressive exhibition about Romy Schneider -the unforgetable Sissi. I truly enjoyed it. We also checked out Warhol's Menage A Trois exhibition, as well as the fantastic pieces brought to Bonn straight from London's Victoria And Albert Museum -exquisit!
Sunday, April 8
1:00 pm: We headed to Siegburg to visit Michael's brother and his family at their lovely country house.
5:30 pm: Returned to Bonn to watch Hamburg playing against Bayern Leverkusen at a local pub.
9:00 pm: After a very darling promenade around the city, we had the Last Supper -last for now!- at Meyer's, a great spot right by Michael's house.
Monday, April 9
6:00 am Michael drives me up to Dusseldorf airport. It's time to go back to Miami.
