A Weekend In Madrid

Happy hump day, amigos! As I mentioned before, we visited Madrid during our last trip to Spain. We flew from Cologne to Madrid on Friday evening and stayed with my friend Leo for the weekend. It was beyond generous, as she was about to move to a new apartment the following week. We will never forget that! Plus, she cooked for us the best veal rolls we ever ate!

We spent the whole Saturday walking around town: Plaza Mayor, La Latina, Palacio de Oriente, Catedral de la Almudena, Teatro Real and Puerta del Sol. Clara, another friend, joined us for lunch in La Latina, a very happening area packed with 'terrazas' and bars. Leo and Clara visited me in Miami two years ago. It was so nice that they finally met Michael and Lucía

On Sunday, we explored the town on our own. Michael, Lucía and I headed to Santiago Bernabeu (the football stadio from Real Madrid) for a full tour throughout the facilities. It was quite an experience and we took fun pictures. My favorite is the one of Michael and Lucia in the press conference room.

Once we were done with the tour, had lunch in a tapas bar right in front of the stadio and then headed home. But before that, we could stroll around El Retiro park.

Later that night, Leo's mother came to visit us. What a nice lady. We had a great dinner and talked a little bit about everything.

On Monday morning we drove up to Asturias to visit my mother. We still miss Leo and keep great memories about that weekend. But she promised she will visit us with Clara next year here in Bonn. We also need to visit Madrid more often. It's such an amazing city.

Thanks Leo, Leo's mother and Clara for making our stay in Madrid so special.

And thank you guys for reading!
