Military (Über-Chic) Coat

I've never been particularly drawn to this style, however, the moment I saw this Zara coat, I couldn't stop thinking about it! To me, the perfect blend between the boyfriend jacket vibe and Zara signature cut -seriously, can they possibly cut the jackets any better?- makes of this piece a classic staple to style up any winter outing. I also love the contrast between the structured shoulders -again, thanks Zara!- and the always flattering A-line. How cute this coat would look paired with skinny jeans, riding boots, scarf and a beanie? And it's now on sale for just 79 Euros!

What do you thing about military coats?

Snapshots Of A Lovely Weekend

Darlings! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. On this end, well, let's just say that for me, a weekend involving great company, great food, a good workout and some awesome movies is pure perfection!

I finally got to watch The Lives Of Others -a German movie masterpiece set in Berlin, during the last years of the German Democratic Republic -when people still had to pay the highest price for dignity, kindness, justice and freedom. Don't miss it! Caution: It is not a movie to cheer you up after a stressful day at work!

In my case, we watched it on Saturday night, right after having dinner at the Spanish restaurant down the street. Tapas and wine never dissapoint!

How was your weekend? Have you watch The Lives Of Others? Any good movies you've watched recently that you can recommend?

Aidan's Chair

As a self-proclaimed Sex And The City scholar, I came up with several theories on my own. For starters, I do believe that Carrie B. paid the bad Karma for breaking Aidan's heart through the last three seasons and even in the movies -I just don't think that Mr. Big was the Big Prize. Anyway...My second theory is that the big chair that Carrie bought at Aidan's showroom when they just met, represents what the 'Aidan-kind-of-guy' is and what he can bring to any committed relationship: beauty, safety, coziness and comfort.

Anyway...theories! The reality is that I'm really in the market for the so-called leather-club chair. Aren't they gorgeous? I totally see myself nestled in one of those, under a blanket, while enjoying a cup of tea  glass of wine, and reading books or magazines! In my wildest fantasies, I always find the perfect vintage leather-club chair on a charming flea-market for under $250. :) Visualization!

In the meantime, let's enjoy the views!

Have you ever been interested in leather-club chairs? How do you like my SATC theories?

BOB-Sessed

From Brigitte Bardot to Jennifer Aniston, almost all the fashion and style icons from the last three female generations have tried the bob hair style at one point or another. But I have to say that it was Michelle Obama's new look the one that really got my attention. I mean...how effortlessly sophisticated she looked at the Inaugural Ball

I've been doing some research about the style per se. It was created at the beginning of the XX Century, and it always involved a rebellious vibe -as 'respected' girls should wear long hair.

Over the decades, I believe that the bob hair has always screamed character, strength, chicness and even versatility: you can wear it all straight, more wavy, try some finger waves, cute pins...

Someone I know is really tempted to try it...

How about you guys? Tempted too?

Perfect Winter Jacket (That Gets The Job Done!)

As much as I love layering, when it comes to dealing with low temperatures -as in lower than 1 degree Celsius/33.8F- a good winter jacket becomes an absolute necessity. And I'm happy to announce that I finally found mine! This Halifax Traders piece fits the bill. For less than 100 Euros (145 USD), I believe that I'll be able to keep away the flu for the next few months -Fingers crossed! Also, I think that the longer the coat, the more figure-flattering -and of course, the more it protects you!

These pics were taken on Saturday morning while heading downtown to run errands. We had 0 degrees Celsius (32F). Trust me, I didn't feel the cold -and underneath the coat I just wore a turtle neck merino sweater. Truth be told, I could have used some leg warmers. Live and learn!

So, for those of you who are currently going through a tough winter...any tips to get protected against the cold without compromising too much style?

Bonn Under The Snow: Have A Great Weekend!

I hope you guys have an awesome weekend. Any plans? On this end, we may try an Argentinean restaurant  down the street and watch movies at home -AND try to catch online Lance Armstrong interview! As you can see on the pics above, the weather is not very inviting for outdoor activities.

As a friend of mine posted in Facebook this morning: 'Snow is a pain in the a**, but it is beautiful'

There!

Have a safe and happy one!

Apartment Crush: Coryander Friend's

I've always been fascinated by houses that represent an organic extension of the owner's personality and lifestyle. At the same time, coziness, natural light, a fireplace, bookshelves, an inviting terrace and wooden floors are some of my favorite features when it comes to look for a new place. So, the moment I came across Coryander Friend's lovely house, located in the heart of L.A.'s Laurel Canyon, my jaw dropped.

Don't miss Coryander's interview where this glober-trotter talks about her interesting life and achievments. For more lifestyle and deco inspirations, check out FVF -one of my fave sites!

So, I'm curious, what are your favorite features to look for on a new place?

Bday Getaway: Hotel Heinz Wellness Resort

Hi darlings! Hope you had an awesome weekend. On this end...well, let's just say that turning 35 has never gotten any more relaxing. Let me explain.

As I anticipated last Friday, Michael prepared a little surprise getaway to celebrate my birthday -which was on Sunday, January 13. The man delivered! Final destination: Hotel Heinz, a wellness resort sourrounded by a forest and just 45 minutes away from Bonn. Relax, nature, detox and amazing food and drinks.Have you ever tried Cranberry Champaign? Delish!

I couldn't possibly ask for more.

I would have loved to go for a morning walk, but this former Miami resident needs some time to adjust to the   cold (Sunday morning we had minus 2 degrees Celcius/ 28 F)

Again, thank you Michael for making everything so easy and special.

As for you, my lovely readers, I can tell you that a Spa getaway makes a great celebration -either birthdays, anniversaries, girl trips, familiy trips (I would love to take my mother, for instance!) Feels like you are in this bubble of wellness and positive energy. The whole experience hits all the pleasure centers!

Have you ever gone to a wellness resort? How was your experience? Have a great week!

Here's To Courageous Women! Have An Awesome Weekend!

Source
I was pleasantly surprised when I read that Penelope Cruz's sister Monica decided to open up about how she used AI to make one of her greatest dreams come true: to become a mother. Monica's gesture has been generous, honest and courageousNothing but respect!

Other than that...well, I look forward to celebrating my birthday this weekend. I'm turning 35 on Sunday. Michael has prepared a little surprise for me. The only info I have is that we'll be leaving on Saturday around 1pm and I have to pack for one night. Sweet!

Wishing you a safe and happy weekend!

Is Subconsciousness The New Intelligence?

When it comes to motivational speeches, I'm torn: On one hand, the message of the power of the brain per se never gets old. At the same time, I feel like the market is saturated with so many books and invigorating speakers repeating or tweaking the same theory.

However, I found this video from Brian Tracy about the power of Subconsciousness particularly interesting and relatable to me. One of the greatest lessons I learned during the past years is that you have to follow your intuition. Believe it or not, your intuition will show you the way -even if it's through mistakes or failures...

Well, the aforementioned video stresses the importance of that. Mr. Tracy presents Subconsciousness as the big umbrella where creativity and instincts fall, and defines those as key players to take our life and goals to the next level. Hard work, determination, positiveness and courage are invaluable assets. No question about it. But it is crucial to follow instincts, our dreams, our passions, those random thoughts we have now and then, our inner voice that tells us what to do...

So, guys, do you usually follow your instincts? Where do you stand on the issue?

Flower Me Happy!

One of the highlights of picking up Michael for lunch dates is walking by this gorgeous flower market located right in front of his office building.

They bring the flowers all the way from Netherlands every day. At a price point range of 4.5 to 7 Euros a bunch ($5.27 to $9.23), it would be even rude to pass up on those beauties, right?

PS. I loved Goop's take on how to arrange flowers according to different vases' shape. Pretty inspirational!

Do you usually buy fresh flowers? How often?

The Jar Of Life (Hope You Enjoy It As Much As I Did!)

Source

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full.. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed..

‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things—-your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—-and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.. The sand is everything else—-the small stuff.

‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and mow the lawn.

Take care of the golf balls first—-the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’ The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.

Have an awesome weekend!

Pixar Exhibition At The BundesKunsthalle

Speaking of trying to be kids again, last Sunday, Michael and I headed to the BundesKunsthalle Museum in Bonn, to enjoy a fabulous exhibition that tributes the outstanding contribution that Pixar studios has made to the movie industry throughout the last 25 years.

I've always been pretty fascinated about animation and the idea of making these fictional characters come to live. The exhibition showcases tons of sketches and some short movies explaining the process. Aside from the purely technical side -which honestly I'm not really in to- what it caught my attention the most, were the explanations about how they really focus on make the story believable and relatable for both kids and adults.

Right after the exhibition, we headed home to watch Finding Nemo again!

How about you guys...Do you like animation movies? What's your favorite?
